Gehendra Shamsher was born in the month of poush, 1928 B.S. His father was Bir Shamsher. He had studied at Durbar school. He was enthusiastic, argumentative and whimsical. Right from his early age he was employed in the army arsenal.
When Bir Shamsher became the Prime minister in the year 1942B.S., he started the construction work, being inspired by his father and opened a factory in the Kathmandu valley. He imported a motor from Britain in 1956B.S. and tried to construct new machine parts, but this task was stopped due to some reasons. His friend Muse Thapa and he made rice beating machine and water pump. They further generated hydro electricity for the first time in Nepal. After his father’s death, during the rule of Dev Shamsher he was sent to Japan to learn Japanese technology. On the basis of seeing only, he made two bored rifle in British model. Bir gun, Dhir gun and Chalayaman machine gun were made during his time. Rich with unprecedented art, Gehendra Shamsher died at the age of 35.
